Amaravati, January 23, 2026: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has announced a week of statewide protest programs in Andhra Pradesh from January 30 to February 5.

The party opposes recent central moves to amend the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), electricity laws, labour codes, and seed policies, along with proposals for mini nuclear power plants.

Leaders say these changes, pushed without broad discussion, hurt farmers, workers, and the poor while favouring big corporations.

Activities begin January 30 with door-to-door campaigns and pledges on Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom anniversary to defend rural jobs. Signature drives follow until February 1, memorandums at village secretariats on February 2, and dharnas at mandal headquarters on February 5.

Announced in Vijayawada, the push highlights local rural impacts in Andhra Pradesh while joining national criticism of central reforms on agriculture, energy, and labour rights.
