Amaravati, January 22, 2026: A private bus travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad lost control near Sirivellametta in Nandyal district shortly after midnight following a tyre burst.

The vehicle crossed the median and slammed head-on into an oncoming container lorry, triggering an immediate fire that engulfed both vehicles.

The bus driver, lorry driver, and cleaner died on the spot from burns. Authorities report that over 10 to 15 passengers suffered injuries while escaping the blaze; a quick-thinking local driver helped break windows to rescue 36 passengers trapped inside.

The injured were rushed to Nandyal Government Hospital via ambulances. Police, including Nandyal SP, reached the scene for investigation, with senior officials directing priority medical care.
