Amaravati, January 22, 2026: The Pattikonda Bar Association in Kurnool district has approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court, seeking action against police officers for what it calls a forcible arrest inside the court hall.

The case stems from December 24, when Shivayya from Degulapadu village in Chippagiri mandal appeared before the Pattikonda court to surrender in a ganja-related case.

While his petition awaited the judge's decision, officers reportedly entered in plain clothes without permission, dragged him out, arrested him, and pushed back lawyers who intervened. Videos of the incident circulated widely online.

The association, led by general secretary G Bhaskar, named Chippagiri SI Satish Kumar, Pattikonda SI R Vijay Kumar Naik, and constables Shabbir and Ramoji in the petition. Earlier complaints to the DGP went unanswered, prompting the High Court move.
