Vijayawada, January 22, 2026: Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu announced that chilli and palm oil have fetched record prices this season, giving a strong boost to Andhra Pradesh farmers.

He credited the gains to farmer-led crop diversification, timely government interventions like the Market Intervention Price last year, and improved practices such as pest management and training programs with partners like Digital Green and ITC.

Chilli prices climbed to ₹15,000–₹19,500 per quintal across key districts, including Palnadu, Kurnool, Prakasam, Anantapur, NTR, Nandyal, Guntur, and Bapatla a sharp rise from last year's ₹12,500–₹13,500 range after a market crash.

Palm oil, where the state leads with over 2.49 lakh hectares under cultivation by nearly 1.97 lakh farmers, saw fresh fruit bunches average ₹19,579 per MT, the decade's peak, supported by stricter oil extraction norms and direct payments exceeding ₹13,425 crore to growers.
