Amaravati, January 22, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's Backward Classes Welfare Minister S Savitha firmly stated that no public funds will support the installation of a statue honouring TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao in Amaravati.

Speaking at the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri, Vijayawada, she emphasized the NDA government's plan to rely on voluntary contributions through a dedicated trust, as enthusiastic people step forward to donate.

The proposal has sparked debate, with critics questioning priorities in a state facing demands for better healthcare and education.

Savitha hit back at YSRCP leaders, accusing them of spreading misinformation on social media to divide communities and engaging in "cheap politics." She contrasted this with past alleged misuse of public money under previous rule for personal projects.
