Amaravati, January 21, 2026: Andhra Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar announced that the state government is committing ₹8,000 crore to upgrade rural infrastructure.

This includes ₹6,000 crore statewide to reinforce the power grid amid rising electricity needs, plus ₹2,000 crore released under Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's leadership for Panchayat Raj road improvements.

Key power initiatives focus on building 250 new substations at ₹800 crore to fix low-voltage issues in rural areas. In Prakasam district's Kanigiri constituency, a new 33/11 KV substation at Murugummala in P.C. Palli mandal will cost ₹4 crore, with more substations targeted for completion before the next farming season.

The minister highlighted village growth as the base for statewide progress, contrasting current efforts with past challenges in the power sector.
