Amaravati, January 20, 2026: Heavy passenger movement during Sankranti created massive demand for public transport in East Godavari district, but Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) officials confirm no bus shortage exists.

Transport Officer Satyanarayana Murthy stated that adequate arrangements handled the rush, with delays stemming mainly from congested roads. The RTC deployed eight special buses to Vijayawada alongside 40 regular ones, plus extras to Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam by pulling resources from nearby depots.

Returning buses from prior trips further eased pressure. Authorities continue operating on high alert to minimise inconvenience for travellers. A
