Vijayawada, January 20: The Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) will conduct online elections on February 9 to elect 13 members to its governing body. This marks the first e-voting exercise for the council in two decades, aimed at filling long-standing vacancies.
The process follows a recent Andhra Pradesh High Court order directing timely completion. Notification was issued on January 19. Nominations run from January 20 to 27, with withdrawals allowed January 28-29.
The final list of candidates releases February 2. Voting runs from 8 am to 5 pm on the council portal, with results announced February 10 at 11 am. Eligible voters include doctors registered under the APMC Act with MBBS or higher qualifications totalling about 55,504 from recent updates.
Secondary Health Director and Returning Officer KVN Chakradhar Babu confirmed the schedule, highlighting enhanced transparency through digital mode. The elections ensure fair representation in regulating medical practice and standards across the state.
