Amaravati, January 19, 2026: The nine-day Brahmotsavams at the Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple in Devuni Kadapa, Kadapa district, began vibrantly with the Dhwajarohanam ceremony.
Priests hoisted the Garuda flag between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. after a ceremonial street procession, marking the formal start of festivities that run through January 27.
This ancient temple, known as "Devuni Tholi Gadapa" or the first threshold to Tirumala, holds special reverence as Hanuman Kshetra due to the Anjaneya idol behind the main deity. Devotees from northern routes traditionally visit here first before heading to Tirupati.
Managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the event features daily cultural programmes including Kolatam, Harikatha, and Bhajans, alongside vahana sevas organised by TTD's Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad. TTD officials, including Deputy Executive Officer K. Prashanti, participated in the opening rituals.
