Visakhapatnam, January 19, 2026: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Botcha Satyanarayana criticised the ruling coalition for economic pressures and governance lapses hitting farmers, students, women, and ordinary families hard.
Speaking at a press conference in his Visakhapatnam camp office, he pointed to hikes in liquor prices, land registration charges, and stamp duty just before Sankranti, leaving little room for festive joy amid soaring everyday costs.
He highlighted pending fee reimbursement dues of ₹5,600 crore over recent months, stalling private college salaries, urea shortages driving black-market fertiliser prices to ₹600 per bag from the fair rate of ₹270, a standstill in the Arogyasri health scheme, and no minimum support prices for crops.
Botcha also flagged law and order concerns, citing the recent murder of a YSRCP supporter in Palnadu as evidence of deteriorating safety.
