Amaravati, January 19, 2026: Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry K. Atchannaidu launched a statewide initiative of free animal health camps at Nidamanuru village in Vijayawada Rural Mandal.

Running through January 31, the program targets every village with services like vaccinations, deworming, fertility treatments, diagnostic tests, and guidance on modern animal husbandry practices.

The effort aims to enhance animal productivity, prevent diseases, cut farmer costs, and strengthen rural livelihoods. Andhra Pradesh boasts 10.82 million cattle and buffaloes, 23.15 million sheep and goats, and 107.86 million poultry, supporting about 2.5 million families.

The sector adds ₹1,67,000 crore to the economy (10.26% of GVA), with the state leading in egg production nationally. Iconic breeds such as Ongole cattle, Godavari buffaloes, and Nellore sheep highlight its heritage.
