Amaravati, January 18, 2026: Ninth-grader Ch Pavan Sai and seventh-grader K Eswar Sanjeev, guided by science teacher Chitturi Vijaya Lakshmi, developed “Solar-Based Power Generation - Save Schools” at Ubalanka Zilla Parishad High School in Amalapuram, Konaseema district.

The project features rooftop panels, an inverter for DC-to-AC conversion, and Arduino-controlled sensors for efficiency.

It produces enough clean energy to run school essentials and sell surplus to the grid, reducing monthly bills of Rs 2,000–5,000 from Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited.

The model won the best project award at the state-level science fair and will head to the national fair in Hyderabad, starting January 19.

It highlights how subsidies like PM Surya Ghar, covering Rs 70,000 of roughly Rs 2 lakh installation costs plus sponsorships, can overcome barriers. Teacher Vijaya Lakshmi called for government-backed sponsor models to scale such setups across schools.
