Amaravati, January 18, 2026: Bapatla police cracked an inter-state ganja smuggling operation on January 17, arresting two people at the Bollapalli toll plaza.

Officers, acting on reliable intelligence, stopped a Bengaluru-registered taxi and found 50 kg of ganja concealed in a secret compartment under the rear seat.

The arrested are Abdul Azeez, 37, a cab driver from Bengaluru, and Shaik Sayyed Farzana Begum (alias Husnara), 42, from Nellore. Azeez reportedly sourced the contraband from the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border region earlier this month for distribution in Bengaluru.
