Amaravati, January 17, 2026: Andhra Pradesh police stepped in to manage surging post-Sankranti traffic on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad and Vijayawada-Chennai national highways.

Travellers heading back to workplaces in Hyderabad and Chennai caused long lines of cars, buses, and private vehicles at toll gates and key points like Garikapadu, Kaza, Kalaparru, and Ibrahimpatnam.

Authorities deployed extra personnel and pickets at highways and plazas to redirect flow and prevent gridlock, easing movement on these vital corridors linking Andhra Pradesh to neighbouring states.
