Amaravati, January 17, 2026: Md. Zakir Shareef, a Telugu Desam Party leader active in Muslim community development and skill training initiatives, died in a road accident near Medarametla on Friday. He was returning to Nellore from Vijayawada when the crash occurred.

Senior TDP members attended his final rites in Nellore on Saturday. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana stayed through the ceremony, expressing deep sorrow and praising Zakir Shareef's dedicated service to the community and party.

A.P. Waqf Board Chairman Shaik Abdul Aziz called the death a major loss and urged the state government to revive the skill development centre Zakir supervised naming it in his memory. Other attendees included MLC Beda Ravichandra and local TDP representatives.
