Amaravati, January 17, 2026:Kathawate Mayur Ashok, a 2018-batch IAS officer, formally took over as Commissioner of the Guntur Municipal Corporation on Saturday.
He was previously serving as Joint Collector and Additional District Magistrate in Visakhapatnam district, following a recent statewide transfer of 14 IAS officers aimed at strengthening urban governance.
In his first address, the new Commissioner directed departments to prioritise tax collection as the financial year draws to a close, calling fiscal discipline the base for city progress.
He urged a full review of data starting Monday and stressed revenue mobilisation, timely assessments, transparent citizen-focused administration, and measurable results.
He also met the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to discuss civic challenges and inter-departmental coordination, while welcoming input from staff, corporators, and residents for Guntur's all-round development.
