Amaravati, January 14, 2026: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has launched an advanced QR code-based footwear management system across Tirumala to solve a long-standing hassle for millions of pilgrims visiting the sacred hill shrine each year.

Pilgrims deposit their footwear at specially set up counters modelled after airport luggage facilities and receive a QR code slip listing details like item count, rack, box, and exact storage spot. Scanning the code on return quickly shows the location, enabling hassle-free collection.

The initiative started as a pilot at Vaikuntha Queue Complex-2 and expanded to eight counters after strong feedback. Implemented under a CSR effort by Coromandel International Limited, it has cut abandoned footwear sharply and improved temple cleanliness.
