Amaravati, January 14, 2026: Growers in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor region once a powerhouse for mango production report serious delays in flowering this season.

Unseasonal rains in eastern areas and prolonged cold spells with temperature swings in western mandals have pushed the cycle back, making timely fruit for March festivals unlikely.

The erstwhile district, now split into Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya, has seen mango acreage shrink sharply.

Farmers worry about yields dropping below six tonnes per hectare, down from earlier hopes of eight. One grower noted that shrinking land and disrupted cycles mean volume is no longer reliable.
