Amaravati, January 14, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has amended the Brewery Rules, 2006, through a recent order to expand microbrewery setups beyond city limits.

Three-star and higher category hotels can now establish them regardless of location. Microbreweries are also permitted in designated tourism centres and within a 5-km belt outside municipal corporation areas. Production caps at 1,000 bulk litres of draught beer per day.

The change targets growth in tourism and hospitality by offering craft beer experiences that appeal to domestic and global visitors, similar to models in Goa, Bengaluru, and Pune.

Industry groups welcome the move, noting it will drive investments, create jobs for local youth, and lift state revenue through enhanced visitor appeal.
