Prakasam, January 14, 2026: The Fishermen Welfare Committee hosted a boat race and related events at Madanuru Peddapalem village in Kothapatnam mandal, drawing participants from nearby fishing hamlets like Swarnandhra Pattapupalem, Pedha Pattapupalem, Eethamukkala Pallepalem, Vajereddy Palem, and Madanuru.
Fourteen teams 28 rowers in pairs took to the waters in a spirited contest that highlighted local maritime traditions.
The event also featured swimming and rangoli competitions, building excitement for Sankranti. Team of Brahmaiah and Srinu secured first place with ₹15,000 prize, followed by Nagababu and Ramulu in second (₹10,000), and Hari Babu and Kondala Rao in third (₹5,000).
