Amaravati, January 13, 2026: The second edition of the Konaseema traditional boat race brought energy to Pulidindi village in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district today.

Twenty-seven teams from across India, including strong entries from Kerala, raced over a four-kilometre stretch between Pulidindi and Lolla Irrigation lock in the Central Godavari Delta.

The three-day event, which runs through Bhogi on January 14, showcased high-spirited competition amid large gatherings from the Godavari region.

Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh praised the initiative for highlighting the water sports potential in Andhra Pradesh. He noted the state's policy to promote such activities through public-private partnerships, given the region's natural waterways ideal for tourism.

Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and other leaders attended, underlining local and state support organised with Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao's backing.
