Amaravati, January 12, 2026: Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivas Varma announced that all obstacles for widening National Highway-165 from Akiveedu to Digamarru have been resolved.
The 45-kilometre stretch in West Godavari district requires about 172 hectares of land across six mandals. Farmers have now given their consent, clearing the main hurdle that delayed progress.
The project, earlier approved with an estimated ₹2,500 crore allocation in 2025 under central initiatives for Andhra Pradesh roads, aims to improve four-laning for smoother coastal travel, reduced congestion, and better links to nearby areas like Bhimavaram. Tenders will launch next month, marking a key step forward.
