Amaravati, January 12, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department’s Cybercrime unit, working with central agencies like the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, National Investigation Agency, and Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, rescued 22 youths trapped in a cybercrime compound in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

The victims, from districts including Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Kadapa, and Vizianagaram, were drawn in by social media ads promising high-paying roles in digital marketing, customer support, and data entry.

After online interviews, they received flight tickets, only to be escorted to locked compounds and coerced into running scams.

This rescue is part of a larger international effort that freed 120 Andhra Pradesh natives among 1,586 Indians repatriated from such hubs in recent months. Officials say traffickers from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos run these networks.
