Amaravati, January 10: YSR Congress Party State coordinator Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy sharply criticised the TDP-led coalition government for launching the second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS II) with undue haste.
He argued that no clear justification exists for pooling an additional 50,000 acres when basic infrastructure remains incomplete on lands from the original 2015 scheme. Many returnable plots from the first phase were assigned in low-lying areas, making them hard to sell, he added.
Sajjala highlighted the massive ₹1 lakh crore estimated cost for initial development and alleged inflated expenses and scam risks in Amaravati projects. He contrasted this with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's earlier commitment, shown by building a residence and party office in the region before 2019 elections.
The opposition leader claimed the current push diverts attention from other issues, while farmers still await fair resolution.
