Amaravati, January 09, 2026: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath announced that a defence corridor will be established in Jaggayyapeta town, NTR district.
The statement came during a felicitation event for the new Agricultural Market Committee chairperson and directors, attended by Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and local leaders.
The MP linked the initiative to broader infrastructure gains, including the six-laning of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway and the sanctioned Kodada-Jaggayyapeta road, which will enhance the area's connectivity and economic potential.
This aligns with Andhra Pradesh's push under its Aerospace & Defence Policy to attract investments in missile, weapon, and related manufacturing clusters around Jaggayyapeta-Donakonda.
Earlier proposals have targeted large-scale defence units in the region to create employment and position the state as a key player in India's self-reliance drive.
