Amaravati, January 09, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has sharply criticised alleged collusion that undermined the Parakamani theft case at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad noted that TTD officials, security staff, and police appeared to act hand-in-glove with the prime accused, a former clerk caught stealing foreign currency in 2023. The court highlighted violations in accepting properties from the accused's family and called the practice of frisking devotee volunteers "inhuman and unacceptable."

The bench directed the Crime Investigation Department to speed up probes, including into a 2023 Lok Adalat compromise and the death of former Assistant Vigilance Officer Y Satish Kumar.

It also ordered TTD and police to pursue disciplinary measures against involved officers and submit practical proposals for modernising Parakamani counting to protect temple offerings.
