Amaravati, January 08, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Polavaram Irrigation Project by December 2027, calling it a personal dream to make Andhra Pradesh drought-free through river interlinking.
During an on-site review and aerial survey on January 7, Naidu directed officials to fast-track remaining tasks. He set firm deadlines: diaphragm wall reconstruction by February 15, 2026; remaining Phase I works by March 2026; embankment completion by June 2026; and ECRF Dam Gap-2 by March 2027.
Rehabilitation and resettlement for affected families must wrap up within 12 months. The main dam is nearing completion, with overall civil works at about 87% progress under the current administration up 13% in the last 18 months.
