Amaravati, January 08, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved key steps to launch MBBS admissions at the Government Medical College in Piduguralla, Palnadu district, starting the 2026-27 academic year.
The college, built under a central scheme, will begin with 100 seats and requires a 420-bed teaching hospital to meet National Medical Commission norms.
The state will expand the hospital to 600 beds, recruit 237 doctors and staff for the college, and add 600 personnel for the hospital. Central funds of ₹195 crore support construction and operations.
Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav noted this corrects earlier gaps, where plans for higher seats fell short due to infrastructure shortfalls.
