Amaravati, January 08, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who holds the Forest and Environment portfolio, reviewed progress on the state's ambitious green initiatives at the Secretariat in Velagapudi.
He called on officials to treat the 50% green cover target by 2047 as a prestigious mission for the coalition government. Pawan Kalyan highlighted the Great Green Wall of Andhra Pradesh as a key project, aiming to create a protective ecological shield with mangroves, shelterbelts, and coastal vegetation against climate risks.
He directed departments to coordinate closely, promote crop diversity in horticulture, encourage intercropping, reduce chemical use, and launch awareness drives for sustainable practices.
These steps aim to boost soil fertility, protect biodiversity, and raise farmer earnings while expanding green areas statewide.
