Amaravati, January 08, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court heard a Public Interest Litigation claiming the state has failed to provide required reservations for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in government recruitment and promotions.

Petitioner Paramanand Dwivedi, from the National Federation of the Blind, argued that authorities have ignored Supreme Court directives since 2015 for separate horizontal reservations, a vacancy-based roster, and filling backlog posts.

Instead, reservations are allegedly combined with those for SCs, STs, OBCs, and women contrary to law. Senior advocate SK Runga, who is visually impaired, stressed that ongoing recruitments continue without proper PwD inclusion.
