Amaravati, January 07, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed authorities to launch disciplinary action against police officers allegedly involved in a conspiracy to dilute the Tirumala Srivari Parakamani theft investigation.
A Division Bench, led by Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad, reviewed a CID report and found evidence of connivance between the main accused, CV Ravikuma, a former Parakamani supervisor and certain police personnel.
The court criticized the initial FIR for omitting key sections, which enabled a quick compromise through Lok Adalat in 2023.
The case traces back to April 2023, when Ravikumar was caught attempting to steal around $900 in foreign currency from the Parakamani counting hall at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala.
What began as a seemingly minor theft escalated into broader allegations of procedural irregularities, including hasty settlements and inadequate scrutiny of temple donations.
The court expressed strong displeasure over the handling, noting that such lapses undermine public faith in sacred institutions like the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
In addition to police accountability, the bench questioned TTD's existing Parakamani management practices, including volunteer checks, and directed the Executive Officer to submit clearer explanations and a revised plan emphasising dignified and effective processes.
