Amaravati, January 07, 2026: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted an on-site inspection of the Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project in Eluru district today, focusing on critical components like the diaphragm wall, cofferdams, buttress dam, ECRF gaps, and canal connectivity.

Preparations included de-watering, security arrangements, and progress displays for the review.

The visit underscored the project's status as the state's lifeline for irrigation, drinking water, and hydropower. Recent acceleration under the current administration added nearly 13% progress in 18 months, pushing overall civil works to about 87%. Naidu directed officials to fast-track remaining tasks, including completing the new diaphragm wall by February 15 and embankment works by June.
