Amaravati, January 07, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's greenfield capital Amaravati faces ongoing uncertainty despite renewed momentum under the current TDP-led government.

Declared the capital in late 2014, the project advanced rapidly until stalled by the previous administration's three-capitals model, which decentralized governance but triggered legal battles and farmer protests.

A 2022 High Court ruling favoured land-pooling commitments, and post-2024 elections, the state pledged completion within three years.
