Amaravati, January 07: Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics, and Education Nara Lokesh called for stringent measures against hate-filled and malicious content on social media during a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi.

The session, focused on strengthening platform accountability and citizen protection, reviewed laws like the IT Act, IT Rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

Lokesh welcomed healthy debate on government policies but drew a firm line against organised campaigns spreading hate, defamation, especially targeting women or AI-generated deepfakes.

He announced plans for special surveillance on content posted from abroad, faster charge sheets in cyber cases, account suspensions for offenders, and new regulations on age-appropriate access.
