Visakhapatnam, January 04, 2026: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma toured INS Himgiri, an advanced stealth frigate built in India for the Eastern Fleet, and a Kalvari-class submarine at the Eastern Naval Command base in Visakhapatnam.
Onboard the vessels, the Governor received detailed briefings on their multi-mission capabilities, stealth design, integrated combat systems, and advanced maritime surveillance tools.
Naval personnel highlighted the heavy use of homegrown technologies across these platforms, underscoring India's push toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat drive.
The Governor commended the Eastern Naval Command and Fleet for their vigilant protection of national maritime interests in a dynamic Indo-Pacific region.
