Amaravati, January 03, 2026: The Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport in Vizianagaram district stands ready for its first commercial validation flight test tomorrow, January 4.

Developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited under a public-private partnership, the greenfield project features a completed 3.8 km runway and near-finished terminals, cargo, and logistics facilities on over 2,200 acres.

An Air India aircraft is set to land as part of the trial, marking a key step toward full operations.

Initial capacity targets 6 million passengers annually, while a planned aviation, aerospace, and defence educational city nearby promises skill training and jobs for locals.
