Amaravati, January 03, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued approval for a major greenfield port and National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster at Dugarajapatnam in Tirupati district.

This comes under the central Shipbuilding Development Scheme, with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board authorized to form a 50:50 special purpose vehicle alongside Visakhapatnam Port Trust.

Plans include acquiring around 2,000 acres of land, transferring it as state equity, and developing an anchor shipyard targeting 0.5 million gross tonnage capacity per year within a decade of launch.
