Newsroom, January 02, 2026: Officials in Eluru marked two decades of the Right to Information Act with a dedicated awareness programme on January 1.
The event featured a seminar explaining the Act's provisions, filing procedures, and the duty of timely responses, followed by a public rally from Ameenapet through the town to reach more residents.
Led by P.V. Sandeep Reddy, Appellate Authority under the RTI Act and District Forest Officer, the programme brought together Public Information Officers, government staff, and a large turnout of citizens.
Reddy stressed that citizens must know their rights under the Act to hold governance accountable and strengthen democracy. Guidelines were shared to ensure transparent handling of applications.
