Amaravati, December 31: A blaze broke out in two air-conditioned coaches of Train No. 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Superfast Express around 12:40 a.m. on December 29 near Yelamanchili station in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district.

Railway staff and passengers spotted the flames early, allowing quick evacuation to a loop line; firefighters contained the fire within hours. One elderly passenger died, but rapid response alarms, extinguishers, and alerts prevented a larger tragedy for the 150+ people on board the affected coaches.
