Amaravati, December 31, 2025: The 50th All India Sociological Conference concluded today at SRM University-AP, bringing together around 1,800 participants from across the country.
Hosted by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the Easwari School of Liberal Arts, the event explored the theme “Mobilities and Inequalities: Shifting Contexts; Changing Paradigms” through four plenary sessions, three memorial lectures, and presentations from 35 research committees.
Scholars examined how movement and disparity intersect in changing societies, with memorial talks honouring pioneers like Radha Kamal Mukherjee, M.N. Srinivas, and Yogendra Singh.
Speakers stressed fieldwork's value, institution-building, and fresh views on India's social history. The conference also saw elections of new research committee leaders, blending rigorous debate with cultural elements.
