Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan virtually laid the foundation for a ₹20.77 crore modernisation of Sankaraguptam Major Drain to end waterlogging and save Konaseema's coconut farms. Works began swiftly in 35 days.

Amaravati, December 30, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan virtually inaugurated the modernisation of the Sankaraguptam Major Drain in Dr. B.R.

Ambedkar Konaseema district from his Mangalagiri camp office. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu joined the event, attended by local leaders and officials at the site.

The ₹20.77 crore project targets an 8-km stretch of the drain, including desilting from km 8.5 to 16.5 and embankment strengthening up to 14.5 km on both sides. It aims to fix long-standing blockages that caused waterlogging, damaging nearly one lakh coconut trees in the fertile delta region.

Pawan Kalyan, who raised the issue after witnessing the harm during an earlier visit to Razole, praised the quick response under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
