Amaravati, December 30, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Commission has opened a call for objections on a proposal to group the Goud (also known as Gammalla), Kalali, and Goundla communities under the single name “Goud/Gowda.”

This would standardise the issuance of caste verification certificates for these toddy-tapping related groups, which already fall under Backward Classes (Group-B) in state lists.

A meeting was held on December 3, 2025, with Goud/Gowda representatives, but no one from Gammalla, Kalali, or Goundla attended.

To ensure transparency, the Commission now invites written comments from affected community members. Submissions must reach the Commission office in Vijayawada by January 6, 2026.
