Amaravati, December 29: Indian Railways, through East Coast Railway (ECoR), plans to double originating train capacity at key hubs including Visakhapatnam by 2030. This addresses surging passenger demand and reduces terminal congestion across 48 major cities nationwide.

In Visakhapatnam, a detailed project report for yard modifications, including five extra lines, six additional platforms, ten stabling lines, and electronic interlocking, awaits Railway Board approval.

Authorities propose Jaganadhpuram station on the upcoming Kottavalasa-Anakapalle bypass as a mega coaching maintenance depot and satellite terminal. Ongoing sectional works feature the addition of new lines, flyovers, and bypasses to enhance overall network efficiency.
