Amaravati, December 29, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a long-pending proposal to advance the Dagadarthi greenfield airport project near Nellore. The decision resolves land acquisition issues for 418 acres in Damavaram village by sanctioning ₹13 lakh per acre compensation to perpetual lease holders.

Of the total required land, around 1,300 acres, 882 acres already stand acquired and handed over to the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation. The move ends delays that stalled progress for years due to legal and farmer-related hurdles.

District officials highlight strong support from local leaders, including Nellore MP and state ministers. Under a public-private partnership model, tenders for execution are expected soon.
