Amaravati, December 28, 2025: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to scrap its Public-Private Partnership (PPP) plan for running new medical colleges.

National secretary K. Ramakrishna stated that the model disguises privatisation, with private entities collecting fees while the state funds infrastructure and staff salaries initially. He argued this harms students from poor and middle-class families and inconveniences patients at attached hospitals.

Ramakrishna highlighted widespread opposition from political parties, student groups, youth organisations, and intellectuals.

He cited concerns that government-built assets would shift to private control, calling the approach immoral and rushed under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Recent tenders for some colleges saw low bidder interest, reflecting ongoing debates.
