Amaravati, December 27, 2025: Residents of Pedajalaripeta, a bustling fishing hamlet in Visakhapatnam, came together on December 26 for their annual Gangamma Puja, turning the tsunami anniversary into a day of gratitude and community reflection.

No boats left the shore as fisherfolk especially women, gathered at the beach near the Goddess Gangamma temple to chant prayers, pour milk, turmeric water, vermilion, and neem-mixed offerings into the sea. Homes were adorned with mango leaves and toranalu, accompanied by drums and traditional dances, transforming the observance into a vibrant local festival.
