Amaravati, December 27, 2025: Preliminary government data shows Andhra Pradesh faced over 8,200 fatal accidents and 10,600 non-fatal ones by the end of November 2025.

This grim tally highlights persistent dangers on national and state highways, where recent tragedies include a Kurnool bus fire that claimed 20 lives and a Palnadu crash killing five engineering students.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and directed swift action. Short-term steps focus on better road markings, signage, crash barriers, and traffic calming at black spots. Long-term plans target improved road design, junctions, and structures like overpasses.

Officials stress collaboration among police, transport departments, and the National Highways Authority to curb fatalities through innovative, multi-stakeholder approaches.
