A private bus struck a stationary car on NH-16 near Guntur early Friday, killing three Telangana residents instantly and injuring five others in Andhra Pradesh's latest highway tragedy.

Amaravati, December 26, 2025: Three people died on the spot when a private travels bus rammed into their parked car on National Highway-16 under Nallapadu police station limits near Guntur city around 5:30 a.m. The victims, all from Suryapet district in Telangana, were returning from Tirupati.

Police said the car driver stopped on the road margin due to drowsiness and stepped out to wash his face when the bus hit from behind. The deceased were identified as Kunchala Venkataiah (65), his wife Kunchala Suseela (56), and Navila Mahesh (28).

Five occupants, including the driver and family members, sustained injuries and received hospital treatment. Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal visited the site, and authorities registered a case for investigation.
