Police in Andhra Pradesh's NTR district, which includes Vijayawada, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly examine an organised infant trafficking racket thoroughly. The network came to light earlier this month when officers rescued five infants and arrested 10 people initially.

A key figure, a woman identified as the main operator, was later detained and is under questioning.

The SIT, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) KGV Saritha, includes specialised officers from the Commissioner's Task Force.

It focuses on uncovering the full network, how the infants were sourced and moved, financial trails, and connections to agents, hospitals, and buyers across states. Teams have already headed to cities like Delhi and Mumbai to track remaining suspects.
