Amaravati, December 25, 2025: Eluru District Collector K. Vetriselvi reviewed plans for the upcoming Kolleru Utsavam and directed officials to create a lively two-day festival.

The event aims to let nature lovers and tourists easily observe thousands of migratory birds now arriving at Kolleru Lake from distant regions. This Ramsar wetland, Andhra Pradesh's premier bird habitat, sees peak arrivals during winter, drawing species that travel thousands of kilometres for feeding and rest.

Officials will form a district committee to propose setups including bird-watching binoculars, boating activities, food stalls, drinking water, and toilets matched to visitor numbers.

The collector also called for a tourism circuit highlighting nearby temples and attractions to extend visitors' stays. Dates for the festival remain under finalisation to align with the height of bird migration.
